You just can't Wynne!
On a day of recognition for those who have suffered emmensly in service of their employer, Injuerd Workers Day, we pay our respect. In every municipality across the Province there was a rally or protest. In Windsor it was held fittingly, out front of the WSIB building off of Ouelette. The picture above is from the rally in Toronto. the WDLC sponsored a caravan of ijnured workers from the Injured Worker Support Group held here at Local 195. The Injured Worker Committee and members that were able to withstand the voyage, accompanied by fellow activists. We were told it was just something you have to experience. It really was ! The 5 hour journey included frequent stops along the way. I could see the pain on our workers faces as they struggled to get out of the comfortable van. Through their pain, i could see excitment in meeting some of their facebook friends face to face. Others reaquainted with friends they had not seen for some time.
The thought that this would not be necessary had employers decided their employees were more important than profits, was constantly running through my head.
We were met by John Toth, who was in Toronto on business. ONIWG, OFL, NDP and IWO were all in attendance along side every union and injured worker, family member and friend. The day was full of small victories and smiles. Though I'm not sure how our Premier can focus on hydro when our workforce is being slowly broken down or killed. Check out the slides below and be safe
