Orlando Vigil
On June 12, 2016, a horrific hate crime occured inside Pulse, a nightclub in Orlando, Florida. There were 49 people killed and 53 others wounded in the attack. The club patrons were targeted due to their sexual orientation. Cities all around the world held Vigils to honour the victims and their loved ones. Here in Windsor, the Vigil for Orlando was held on Wednesday, June 15, 2016.
The beautiful Ceremony brought our community together to mourn and reflect. The solidarity I witnessed was a testament to the love and respect pulsing through this labour town. We have come along way as a society, the horrific display of hate on June 12, cleary indicates there is still so much work to be done.
